Using Dental Technology To Restore Smiles

houston 3d printing

Our team wants to offer each patient a personalized approach to treatment, one that employs the latest in dental technology. In today’s blog, your Houston, TX, dentist will discuss how we use CBCT scanning systems and how we even 3D print your dental restorations to improve the beauty, health, and even the function of your smile.

Planning with CBCT Technology

Cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) is an x-ray system that rotates around you to take a series of detailed images of your teeth, gums, jaw, roots, and oral structures. These will be combined to create a 3D image of your entire smile, including the mouth, jaw, ears, nose, throat, and neck. The system we use is the PreXion 3D Excelsior, which offers a greater range of angles in a single scan, and uses a fraction of the radiation of traditional methods. With a full assessment of your soft issues, bones, and teeth, we can identify the factors behind your oral health concerns, and plan treatment with accuracy and precision! The images are also available quickly, so in the same visit we can walk you through the process. You gain a better understanding of your oral health, and what treatment to expect.

Printing Your New Restorations

When we use a 3D printer to create your restorations and appliances, this saves a significant amount of time. In fact, we can even plan and place a custom restoration in the same visit! No need to work with a separate dental lab, or send off for a crown or oral appliance. Everything will happen in-house!

Using the SprintRay 3D printer and the RayWare software, we will begin by taking a series of detailed images and measurements employing computer-assisted lasers. The images will be combined into a 3D computer impression, no need to bite down on a mold anymore! The onsite milling machine then crafts the final product using liquids or special powders. The result is a custom-made crown, veneer, bridge, denture, or oral appliance to help restore function, health, and beauty to your smile. You leave with a completely repaired or restored smile, no need for multiple visits.

If you have any questions about these advanced technologies we employ, or about how they could help your smile, then contact our team today to learn more. We would love to schedule a consultation and help you improve your smile.
