Which Whitening Option Is Right For You?

Do you wish your smile could be a bit brighter? We know how great people feel once they obtain a brighter smile, so we offer our Houston, TX, patients access to professional teeth whitening. In today’s blog, we’re going to look at two different options we provide to help brighten smiles by several shades. Which teeth whitening choice is right for your smile?

Our In-Office Option

If you need quick results for an upcoming event, then you may want to try our in-office option. The procedure often brightens smiles by several shades in as little as one to two hours. To begin, we will put a protective covering over your lips and gums. Next, we apply the bleaching gel to the teeth. Using a special light, we activate the gel to begin breaking up discoloration and removing stains. Once complete, you leave with a noticeably brighter smile.

Whitening Smiles From Home

For those interested in a home-based solution, we can use a custom-made set of trays and a bleaching gel. With this option, we can reduce tooth sensitivity and also address more substantial teeth stains. To begin, you will visit the office so we can take impressions of your smile to create the trays. We then send you home with the trays, and a bleaching gel as well. The trays will be filled with gel and worn for about 30 to 45 minutes each day. The trays ensure the gel spreads evenly across the smile, providing optimal results. The treatment period usually takes between a week and ten days, depending on the extent of the discoloration. You can keep the trays and leftover gel for touch-ups as needed down the road.

Keeping Your Teeth Bright

Following treatment, you will want to maintain your new results. Fortunately, you can take steps to treat your smile and limit the severity of teeth stains in the future. For example, avoid smoking or using other or tobacco products, and cut back on drinks with dark pigments, like coffee, red wine, tea, and soda. Make time to brush your teeth twice a day and floss every night, and let us remove plaque buildup with a dental cleaning every six months. Avoid sugary foods and drinks, which promote plaque buildup and discoloration. If you have any questions about protecting your smile’s health and combating teeth stains, then talk to our team today. You can also schedule a consultation to see which of our whitening options is the best choice for your smile.
