Cosmetic Repairs With Bonding And Contouring

Teeth whitening isn’t the only option for improving your smile’s beauty. With dental bonding and contouring, our team can help repair minor damage and mask common esthetic issues, and all in only one visit! In today’s blog, your Houston, TX, dentist talks about how we better smile esthetics with cosmetic dentistry.

When a Smile Needs Cosmetic Dental Care

When should you consider seeing our team for cosmetic dental care? Well, if you have discoloration this is an obvious one. There are store bought options available, but they’re often linked to minor results that are short-lived, and tooth sensitivity. Other cosmetic issues include misshapen teeth, gaps in the smile, or even minor damage. In the cases of damage, repair could help prevent tooth decay and infection, protecting the health of your smile. If you have issues with the appearance of your smile that make you feel uncomfortable, then talk to our team today. With a consultation, we can sit you down and talk about your goals for your smile, and then conduct an exam with advanced technology. We then create a treatment plan to improve the beauty of your teeth!

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding uses the same composite resin we employ in our tooth-colored fillings. This material is metal-free and safe for all patients. The material can also be color-matched to blend with surrounding tooth structure. We begin by administering a local anesthetic. Next, we remove any decay and then learn the tooth. We may etch the surfaces too. Afterward, we prepare and apply the material in several layers. We sculpt and mold the tooth as the composite resin cures under a light. The last step is to thoroughly polish the teeth for a brighter appearance and smoother finish. The whole process only takes one visit! We could repair minor damage, lengthen worn down teeth, close minor gaps, mask teeth stains, and more.

Dental Contouring

We also have a separate procedure that could be done in one visit, in the same appointment or in a separate one. This is contouring, and instead of adding materials to the tooth, we gently buff and sand small portions of the structure to create cosmetic improvements. For example, we can smooth out pits or grooves, reshape overly large or malformed teeth, and dull sharp or pointed portions of your smile. If you have any questions about our approach to cosmetic dentistry then contact our team today to learn more.
